Recommended books for the First Year M.B.B.S.

Here are some internationally recommended books for the students pursuing medical career. Though most of these are very wonderful for being followed as textbooks, most of these are used for reference purposes.

Anatomy:
Grays student student edition
Snell's Anatomy

Physiology:
Ganong's Physiology is the best for following as a text.
Guyton and Hall Textbook of Physiology is to used mainly as a reference book.

Biochemistry:
Harper's(25th edition especially)
Lippincott's

Of course, learning medicine in the first year is tough. And it gets tougher as one refers more of the foreign authors. For students who are weak to grasp the foreign ones, always go for an Indian author. The quality is poor as opposed to that of foreign ones; but it may proove to be useful in the examination point of view.

So here is a list of Indian authors whose books I recommend to read in the first year. Make sure you refer the foreign books ocassionally since none of these books are perfect.
